DEAN Huijsen has been nominated for the Premier League’s young player of the season.

The young centre back, who looks set to join Real Madrid this summer, has been nominated for the award after a stellar debut campaign in the league.

Since starting against Tottenham Hotspur in December after an injury to Marcos Senesi, Huijsen has not missed a minute, starring at centre back as the Cherries have recorded a record season in the league.

He has scored three goals for the club, with each a key moment in the game.

His first came as the only goal in the 1-0 win over Spurs, before he netted the opening goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford, Bournemouth going on to win 3-0.

Finally, he scored the equaliser at the Emirates as the Cherries recorded their first away win at Arsenal and their first league double over the Gunners.

Huijsen has impressed with his aerial ability and physical attributes, standing tall and dominating in the air at the back for Andoni Iraola’s side.

His ability on the ball, too, has shone – he is excellent at bringing the ball out from defence and picking a pass, often getting the Cherries going forward.

He is joined by Liam Delap, Anthony Elanga, Ryan Gravenberch, Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro, Morgan Rogers and William Saliba on the list of nominees.
