Man Utd could be without four defenders when they face Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.

Ruben Amorim admits he has been worried about Manchester United’s defensive options for next season following their recent injury struggles at first-team level. United are currently without four senior centre-backs ahead of the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur and don't expect to have any of them available to face Chelsea on Friday night.

Matthijs de Ligt has missed the last two matches after he was forced off with an injury in the recent away defeat to Brentford, while Leny Yoro limped out of their home defeat to West Ham a week ago. Diogo Dalot and Ayden Heaven are both still sidelined with their own injury setbacks, while Lisandro Martinez is a long-term absentee after he underwent surgery on an ACL injury.

It leaves Amorim short of options ahead of their huge clash with Spurs next Wednesday night and the United head coach has to be careful with his defenders when they face Chelsea tomorrow night.

Ruben Amorim makes transfer admission

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the upcoming clash with Chelsea, Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim admitted the latest injury blow to Leny Yoro left him concerned about their defensive options for the summer. Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans are both expected to leave the club as free agents upon expiry of their respective contracts, while Harry Maguire will enter the final year of his current deal.

Quizzed on his reaction to Yoro's injury against Brentford, Amorim said: "Leny was the same as Mattha. I was thinking about next year, the squad if we need another guy, if it is a long injury. That is my concern. It is not just about the final. Of course I want every player fit. But Leny Yoro in his foot he had that problem I was so concerned about the next season, the next squad, the way we build up the squad. That was my biggest concern. The rest will be ready for the final no matter what."

United replaced Luke Shaw in the aftermath of Yoro's injury last weekend, in what was a precautionary move from the head coach ahead of a pivotal week in their campaign. He added: "Yeah, it was clear we cannot take a risk in several players, that was to save especially in that kind of position.

"It is the history, not what he is going to be, it is the history. And then we have to manage the minutes like Mason Mount. Mason Mount is ready but we are trying to build these guys a little bit longer for them cope and then they will be OK."
