David Moyes will make the final decision about whether Everton will pursue a move to re-sign John Stones from Man City this summer.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 30-year-old is on the Toffees list of potential targets.
However, there are serious concerns about his injury record as he has started just 13 games across all competitions so far this season, missing a total of 31 games through various injuries.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Man City will accept offers for Stones as he is no longer a part of Pep Guardiola’s long-term plans.
Everton are one of a number of Premier League teams believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation, while West Ham and Brighton have also been linked.
Football Insider revealed on 8 May that Everton are considering Stones as an option to replace Michael Keane, who is set to depart next month.

Everton to make John Stones transfer decision
Brown told Football Insider in March that Man City want to replace Stones and share Everton’s concerns about his less-than-ideal injury record.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Everton must decide whether his qualities are worth the risk of injuries.
“*Everton are one of the clubs looking at John Stones,*” he told Football Insider.
“What they need to know is what his injury situation is.
“It’s always been something that’s hanging over him and a question that has been asked, but this season especially seems to have been a bad one.
“There’s no doubting his quality, he is a top-class centre-back when he can stay fit.
“That’s why there are so many clubs having a look at him.
“Everton need to assess whether the performances and quality they can get out of him is worth the risk that he could miss games through injury.
“Ultimately, David Moyes has to make the decision.
“Moysey cannot afford to take somebody who’s going to miss half the season.”

Leeds United plot Beto swoop ahead of Premier League return
As Everton continue to make plans to strengthen Moyes’ squad this summer, a number of their current first-team players could be set to leave.
Brown told Football Insider on 13 May that Beto is a target for Leeds United as they begin preparations to return to the Premier League.
His seven goals in 13 starts have placed him firmly on Leeds’ radar, after Football Insider revealed Leeds are prioritising signing a striker in the window.
However, there are doubts about whether he is the right man to consistently lead the line in the top tier as Leeds continue to eye multiple options.
