Newcastle United's fears that Man United will put out a severely weakened team against Chelsea tomorrow night have been slightly allayed by Ruben Amorim - though he has admitted there will be changes.
Man Utd travel to Stamford Bridge tomorrow night for a game that could be pivotal in the Champions League race. Chelsea sit fifth in the standings, three points behind Newcastle after the [Magpies beat them 2-0](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-stood-up-nasty-31619867) at the weekend.
The race for a top five spot is so tight with just four points separating Newcastle in third with Nottingham Forest in seventh. Aston Villa are also in action tomorrow evening, taking on Tottenham Hotspur.
The reason for the two Friday games is because Man United and Spurs take on each other in the Europa League final on Thursday. And with both sides sitting in the bottom half of the table, there are fears they will play a bunch of kids and fringe players to protect the first choice stars before the final.
Red Devils boss Amorim, however, says regardless of what team he puts out, they will be going for the win as he believes that is the best preparation for the final.
"I don’t know," Amorim said when asked if the United team against Chelsea on Friday would resemble his starting XI against Spurs. "I know the starting XI I am thinking for Chelsea and then I will see. Even the way we play there against Chelsea I will see it and it will be important for the next one.
"The best way is to face the game like we should face the game: it is to win the game. We need to perform, to win points in Premier League and that is the feeling. We talked about that after West Ham.
"We need to improve in the way we face competitions and stay focused in every moment of the game. Against West Ham we had clear situations to score, in the first situation they have, they score. These details matter.
"The only way I know how to prepare a final is, in the normal game for our league, we must play the same way as a final.
"We have to try to recover, the best thing to prepare the final is to play the game and then the players have to understand if you play or don’t play against Chelsea, it means nothing to the final. That is important.
"I am just preparing the game of Chelsea. That is my focus. We want to win and we want to perform."
