Evangelos Marinakis has been widely challenged for his actions on Sunday, but questions are still to be asked internally about what exactly happened in the Taiwo Awoniyi incident.
Marinakis stormed onto the pitch after the Leicester game in what were remarkable scenes as he attempted to get to the bottom of how Awoniyi was able to carry on playing.
It was later revealed that Marinakis’ outburst continued into the tunnel, but after Forest released a statement about Awoniyi’s well-being, it was made clear that this anger was actually frustration and concern for the Nigerian striker.
While Awoniyi continues to recover in hospital, it has been reported that, internally at least, the inquest into how exactly he was allowed back onto the pitch is set to ramp up.

Evangelos Marinakis to launch internal investigation into Taiwo Awoniyi incident
Simon Jordan criticised Forest’s statement for how Marinakis’ actions were portrayed within it, but it seems clear that the Forest owner is desperate to never see a repeat of Sunday’s events.
According to a report by The Sun, Marinakis will launch an internal investigation into the handling of Awoniyi’s injury, with senior club staff set to be questioned.
The report said: “Evangelos Marinakis is still fuming at how the stricken striker [Awoniyi] was allowed to continue playing by the club’s medics and coaches. The Greek tycoon has ordered a comprehensive internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding that controversial decision.

“Forest’s vastly experienced club doctor Dr Prithish Shyam Narayan will be quizzed along with club medics and coaches, so that Forest get a precise picture and understanding of what happened on Sunday.”
Clearly a smart move, it seems that Marinakis will not rest until he knows absolutely everything about what happened on Sunday, with the medical staff especially having a lot to answer for.
He continues to receive backlash from those in the media, but not from within the club, as Ola Aina took the opportunity to defend Marinakis in a recent interview.
Ola Aina has defended Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis
Gary Neville was quick to call out Marinakis in the immediate aftermath of Sunday’s events, with the Sky Sports cameras capturing the moment where it seemed as if he was arguing directly with Nuno Espirito Santo.
After Espirito Santo explained Marinakis’ actions, this initial understanding was put to bed, but given that the Forest owner is still being criticised, it must be nice for him to see Aina step up to support him.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Aina said: “The owner just wants us to do well. He set up the club and the team for success and, like everyone, he is fully invested in how well we do and how big the club grows.
“I have nothing but praise for him. I am so grateful to him and what he does for the club.”
With the internal investigation in mind, it’s clear to see what Aina means. If there are any issues that need resolving as a result of the investigation, they will be done with the sole purpose of helping the club continue to thrive.
