Season over for Rashford as Emery confirms Aston Villa absentees

Unai Emery has revealed Marcus Rashford and Youri Tielemans are not available for Aston Villa’s Premier League clash against Tottenham.

Tielemans, who netted the winner in Villa’s last home game against Fulham, sustained a calf injury last week which caused him to miss his first league game of the season against Bournemouth.

Meanwhile, Rashford has been sidelined with a hamstring injury that has seen him sit out the FA Cup semi-final loss to Crystal Palace as well as the last two league outings.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference on Thursday, Emery confirmed neither player will feature in Villa’s final home game of the season.

He said: “Youri and Marcus tomorrow are not available.

“We have to do each step forward, testing and analysing how he is recovering. I don’t know if Tielemans will be available [for Villa’s last game of the campaign away at Manchester United] physically.

“They are working in the training facilities every day and feeling better.”

Rashford’s absence means he has already played the final game of his Villa loan spell.

This is because as per Premier League loan rules, he cannot face parent club Man Utd on the final day of the season which means his 2024/2025 campaign is over.
