The winds of change will blow strongly at Manchester United which is why the coming Europa League final could be the final consequential game for many at the club but not for one.
Ruben Amorim will almost certainly push for a large-scale clearout at Man Utd in the summer transfer window.
Not only does he need money to shape the team in his image and needs to sell to buy, but it’s also what he did at Sporting and Sir Jim Ratcliffe is ready to repeat it.
Amidst all the uncertainty over player futures, a report has suggested that one Man Utd star who has struggled the most this season has effectively kept his place for one more season.

Man Utd deliver Andre Onana verdict
Andre Onana started the season on fire despite being in a wretched team and while the team continued to be dismal, he’s now joined them in that department.
Onana has struggled massively this season after a hot start to the point that he was dropped for league games, with only Altay Bayindir’s even worse form meriting Onana’s recall.
He’s back to being the unquestioned No. 1 but has stopped inspiring confidence, leading to reports that Amorim is looking to replace him.
Targets like Senne Lammens, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, or homegrown solutions like Radek Vitek were mentioned, but it looks like he’s earned one final season of backing from the club.
More United News
The Manchester Evening News reports that signing a goalkeeper is no longer a priority for the club in the summer, with the club targeting a playmaker, a striker, and a midfielder.
Amorim does want a new No. 1 but might have to make do with his current one since United need to prioritise and can’t change everything in one summer.
Andre Onana and Man Utd’s goalkeeping department
There is a chance that Man Utd fans will see some big changes to the goalkeeping department even if Onana doesn’t leave.
Tom Heaton’s Man Utd contract extension is reportedly in the works but he’s pretty much a dressing room presence, while Altay Bayindir is likely to leave.
The Turkish goalkeeper could move in search of playing time to secure his spot in the 2026 World Cup squad for his country, so United will need to move for a backup.
That backup could be an exciting youngster who the club believe can eventually challenge Onana as well, or the search could be entirely left to next summer, in which case a firm backup will arrive.
Either way, the heat is firmly on Onana and he needs to perform next season, a grace that won’t be given to many of his teammates in the summer.
