It’s been known for some time now that Manchester United are desperate to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Matheus Cunha.
The Brazilian striker has had a standout season with 17 goals and six assists in 34 games for Wolves.
As such, it’s no surprise that United are looking at Cunha as an upgrade to their current attacking options.
With 17 goals and seven assists between them, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee has failed to provide consistency in front of goal for Ruben Amorim.
However, Cunha could be a perfect option to join Amorim’s men and strengthen their firepower for next season.
Unfortunately for United, they’re now up against Arsenal in the race for his signature, with The Gunners hoping to hijack United’s deal.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the situation.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano commented: “Man Utd are in very positive talks with Matheus Cunha, very good conversations, discussing the details of the agreement with the player.”
He continued: “Then they will be ready to meet Wolves and find a solution on the payment structure of the release clause. Man Utd want to go for Matheus Cunha. The conversation is ongoing. The exchange between Cunha and Man Utd remains absolutely positive.”
With the Europa League final only a week away, it’s expected that United will hold off making the signing official until after the fixture to see if they’ve qualified for Champions League football next season and can cash in on the income which will come from it.
As such, we could see Romano’s signature “here we go” in just over a week, with Cunha setting his heart on walking out at Old Trafford next season.
