The Milwaukee Brewers have a 21-23 record so far this season in the MLB. They are in third place in the National League Central and it has not been the same team in 2025 compared to the past two seasons.

However, despite this baseball team not being the same team under manager Pat Murphy, they have had some bright spots on the roster. A season ago, the star rookie on Milwaukee’s roster was outfielder Jackson Chourio. In 2025, the star rookie on the team some could argue is right-handed starting pitcher Chad Patrick.

On Tuesday, yahoo.com sports MLB writer Jordan Shusterman wrote an article about the 30-team rankings in the MLB. However, he also listed the top rookie on each team so far during the 2025 MLB season to go along with the ranking. Shusterman had Milwaukee ranked 21st on his MLB power rankings for this week.
To go along with that, he listed rookie pitcher Patrick as the best rookie on this Milwaukee ball club. Shusterman said,
“Traded twice before he made his MLB debut with Milwaukee this season, right-hander Chad Patrick has quietly done his job in the Brewers’ rotation. Patrick’s stuff, headlined by a high-80s cutter he throws 46% of the time, might not turn any heads, but he knows how to use it, and his 2.83 ERA across his first eight career starts reflects that.”
Patrick has pitched in nine games so far this season for Milwaukee. He has a 2-3 record with a 3.19 ERA. In 42.1 innings pitched, he has given up 39 hits and 15 runs. Patrick has also walked 14 batters and has struck out 36 batters. His WHIP is 1.25.
He is 26 years old. The Brewers will have an off day on Thursday. Patrick is projected to be the starting pitcher for Milwaukee on Friday night against the Minnesota Twins at home to begin a three-game series. The starting rotation has been decent for Milwaukee in 2025, and the offense has not been the same for them. Patrick will probably not be in the National League Rookie of the Year race, but he can show that he could be a useful starting pitcher in this rotation for the next few years.
