It could finally be the big summer for Liverpool that has been teased for many years among Reds fans.

Reports that broke on Wednesday, May 14, revealed that Liverpool officials held a meeting with Wirtz and his family in England,

The talks, which included a visit to Liverpool’s facilities and discussions with senior figures, came as Wirtz and his representatives (who are his parents) also reportedly met with Manchester City anid ongoing interest from Bayern Munich.

While Bayern remain confident due to a reported promise from Wirtz, Leverkusen’s preference to sell abroad rather than to a Bundesliga rival could give Liverpool and City a crucial edge.

Wirtz’s stock has soared after contributing 16 goals and 15 assists in 44 appearances this season, following a campaign in which he was named Bundesliga Player of the Year and helped Leverkusen go undefeated domestically.

His technical ability, vision, and movement between the lines have made him one of the most sought-after playmakers in world football.

Now Paul Joyce has confirmed that should the German international be moving abroad this summer or in the future, Liverpool will certainly be in the conversation.

The Merseyside reporter wrote for the Times:

“There is an interest in Florian Wirtz, whom Liverpool have tracked for a number of years, and should he show an inclination to move to the Premier League this summer then the champions will make a strong pitch.”

“The attraction of Wirtz, who has 79 goal involvements in 93 appearances for Leverkusen over the past two seasons, is obvious.”

“He has also been the subject of interest from City and Bayern Munich.”

“The feeling at Anfield remains that the 22-year-old will either stay at Leverkusen or move to Bayern Munich in a deal that could be worth in excess of €100million (about £85million).”

“However, should he see a future away from the Bundesliga, Liverpool will make an approach for him.”
