Rúben Amorim has provided the latest information on Manchester United’s injured players as they prepare to face Chelsea in the Premier League.
Manchester United are preparing for their penultimate Premier League match of the 2024/25 season, as Rúben Amorim’s side make the trip to London to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Friday evening.
The fixture will be United’s final away outing of a miserable domestic campaign, with the Reds set to conclude their league season at Old Trafford against Aston Villa on Sunday 25 May.
Attention is already turning to the Europa League final, where United will take on Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao on Wednesday 21 May, in a last chance to claim silverware and salvage some pride from a difficult season.
Regardless of the outcome in their remaining matches, United have confirmed their worst-ever Premier League finish, currently sitting in 16th place with just 39 points from 36 games.
Anyone at risk of injury will not play
Speaking on Wednesday afternoon, Amorim admitted that the defensive quartet of Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Diogo Dalot, and Ayden Heaven will likely not play against Chelsea, further clarifying that anyone who is at risk of injury will not play on Sunday afternoon.
“If there is a player that can get an injury [and is] not recovered for this game so [it] will put him in risk for the final, he will not play,” said the boss.
“But if it’s not that situation, we will have a lot of time to recover, and we cannot spend eight days, nine days without a game.
“That is a bad thing for the final so I think they will be prepared for the game. The best thing to prepare the final is to play the game. The players have to understand that if you play or don’t play against Chelsea, it means nothing to the final, that is important.
“I’m just preparing the game of Chelsea, that is my focus. We want to win and we want to perform.”
However, aside from the above four, United only have Joshua Zirkzee and Lisandro Martínez as confirmed absentees, with both players out for the remainder of the campaign.
Chelsea’s latest injury news
Enzo Maresca’s side will be without Nicolas Jackson. The striker was handed a three-game ban for deliberately elbowing Sven Botman in the first half of their 2-0 loss against Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho is not allowed to play against United due to FA rules that restrict players from playing against their parent clubs in domestic competition while on loan.
Marc Guiu and Christopher Nkunku have been injured, which leaves Chelsea without a recognised striker, with Pedro Neto the favourite to cover up front.
Meanwhile, Wesley Fofana, Omari Kellyman and Mykhailo Mudryk will also miss the tie, and despite Reece James having missed the two training sessions earlier this week through illness, he is back with the squad.
