Ex-PL manager who was relegated claims he'd win more games at Man United than Amorim

A former Premier League manager has stated his belief that he would win more games as Manchester United manager than Ruben Amorim and has thrown his name into the hat should the Portuguese coach be relieved of his duties at Old Trafford. Amorim himself has recently reiterated that the Red Devils' domestic form has not been good enough, with United winning just six Premier League games since he joined the club in November.

Things have been going far better in Europe, where the 20-time English champions have remained unbeaten and await a Europa League final against Tottenham that could save their season. However, a former Everton boss has issued a savage warning to Amorim while explaining why he thinks he could do a better job.

Sean Dyche Claims He Would do a Better Job as United Boss

Dyche has been unemployed since being sacked by Everton

Speaking during an appearance on the recent Stick to Football podcast on the Overlap YouTube channel, Sean Dyche revealed that he believed he would be able to get more points on the board for United than what Amorim has done so far, while admitting he would love to take the job at the Theatre of Dreams.

"He’s not going to change the way he plays. He [Ruben Amorim] better win some games – pretty quick. I reckon if I went there and played my way, we’d win more games. Just 4-4-2 – give them basic rules of principles. We’re all going, "Fair play" – but, he’s been there a while now so you better start bringing some wins soon.

"Howard Wilkinson had a great saying, he said, "Win, survive, succeed". Basically, you have to win first, and then you can survive because you’re winning, and then success is when you do lay down all your principles and your playing style. So, if he can win enough, which is the worry at the minute, and then survive the process, and then succeed – then that’s going to be better."

Dyche also admitted that managing United would be his dream job and went on to say that he expects Amorim to remain in the job over the summer, but that the 40-year-old will be under intense pressure at the start of the 2025/26 season to show drastic improvements.

While the idea of Dyche taking the Old Trafford hot seat seems unlikely, some surprising names have been linked with the potential vacancy should Amorim leave. New favourite, Jose Mourinho, has already told his inner circle that he would walk to Manchester if given a second opportunity to manage the club, where he was fired in 2018.
