Unai Emery confirms Marcus Rashford news

Marcus Rashford has enjoyed a much-needed resurgence since his January loan move to Aston Villa, rediscovering form and confidence under the guidance of Unai Emery.

Having lost his spark at Manchester United – where he struggled to hit similar heights after a 30+ goal campaign under Erik ten Hag in 2022/23, the England international seemed a shadow of himself earlier this season.

His hunger and drive appeared to fade, and the decision to temporarily part ways with United made perfect sense for all parties.

The loan switch to Villa Park proved a shrewd move, with Rashford contributing four goals and six assists in 17 appearances.

His impact helped Emery’s side push towards a strong finish, currently flirting with Champions League qualification.

But that spell now looks to have come to a premature end.

Marcus Rashford season over with Aston Villa

Unai Emery has confirmed Rashford is unavailable for Villa’s clash against Tottenham on Friday.

While he’s also ineligible to face his parent club Manchester United on the final day of the season.

That means Rashford may have played his final game for Villa, with his last outing coming in a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in April.

A match in which he sustained a hamstring injury.

“Youri [Tielemans] and Marcus tomorrow are not available,” Emery stated in Thursday’s press conference.

“Ramsey is suspended. The other players are available.”

According to ESPN’s Rob Dawson, Aston Villa remain undecided about whether to activate the £40m option to sign Rashford permanently.

The report adds that the 27-year-old no longer sees a future under current United manager Ruben Amorim.

It is believed that the Englishman is eyeing a move to a Champions League club this summer.

Barcelona, who were linked with the forward back in January, are once again said to be monitoring the situation.

The Catalan giants are reportedly in the market for a left winger.
