NBA Hall of Famer, Charles Barkley believes Nick Saban will have his hands full in his pursuit to help restore the current landscape of college athletics after recently being selected to be the co-chair of Donald Trump’s Presidential Commission on College Sports.
The Athletics’ Sam Khan was the first to report Saban would be joining the commission.
Barkley was asked about his thoughts on the current college football landscape and shared he is confident Saban is the right man to put in charge of helping solve some of the issues college athletics are facing.
“College athletics is so f—kd up right now,” Barkley said Wednesday at the Regions Tradition Golf Tournament at Greystone Golf and Country Club in Hoover. “I don’t know what they’re going to do to fix this thing. You know, the NCAA are just a bunch of idiots and let it get so out of control. So the problem you’re going to have, I don’t know how you put toothpaste back in a tube, so he’s (Saban) got his hands full. I don’t know how they’re gonna do it but he’s probably the right man for the job but it’s not that simple as the right man for the job.”
The future of college athletics will heavily depend on the decisions its leaders make over the next several months.
