Manchester United will be looking for value in the market this summer, with a handful of superstar players set to become free agents.
With Sir Jim Ratcliffe facing the unenviable task of fixing the financials and the squad at Manchester United, free agents may be useful.
This summer, the need for Ruben Amorim’s squad to be bolstered must be balanced with keeping the finances in check. United are in a perilous situation financially, and Ineos have been taking drastic measures to fix it, such as the staff cuts and ticket price rises.
In an interview earlier this season, Ratcliffe slammed the transfer business Ed Woodward completed for United, pointing to this as a major contributing factor as to the mess the Red Devils are in.
Recruitment is improved, but there will still be a need to spend wisely, and by recruiting free agents, United will save funds to use elsewhere.
Now, arguably the best player set to be available for free has been offered to United.

Manchester United offered the chance to sign Leroy Sane
There are some very talented footballers set to become free agents this summer.
United have been linked with Angel Gomes, and additionally, Jonathan David has been a rumoured Ineos target. Another player set to be free is Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane.

Now, it has been reported by journalist Santi Aouna that with just over one month until his contract expires, there is still a large gap between Sane and Bayern in their negotiations.
However, it will soon become clear whether he will be staying, as Bayern wants an answer before the end of the week.

The report adds that Sane has been offered to Premier League clubs, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Newcastle, and United named as clubs he has been proposed to.
Bayern don’t have room for Sane, with Jamal Musiala, Michael Olise, and potentially Florian Wirtz all at the club. However, he still managed 13 goals and six assists this season, showing he has plenty to give.
There would, however, be a question over how he would fit into Amorim’s squad, but Gary Neville is one United figure who would want the deal to happen.
Gary Neville would love Leroy Sane at Manchester United
Sane is an out-and-out winger, which makes it tough to find him a role in United’s 3-4-2-1 system. However, if Neville were making the decisions, it is a deal that would be done.
Neville, as quoted by the Express in 2016, raved over Sane after the early signs he showed after joining Manchester City.
“He’s shown glimpses in the Chelsea game and the game [against Arsenal] that make me think he could be pretty special.
“You always think of it as ‘would I like to play against him?’ He’s got electric pace. He looks like he could – once he gets the belief and confidence and settles into the league with maturity, he could be devastating.”
If United signed Sane, he would bring an instant winning mentality, with two Premier League titles and four Bundesliga crowns, which is something lacking in this team.
Perhaps he may add a third Premier League, this time for the red side of Manchester.
