Manchester United young sensation Harry Amass has received major recognition after a standout 2024-25 season.
The 18-year-old has officially been named Manchester United’s Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year.
Ethan Wheatley, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho are the previous three recipients of this prestigious award.
Amass arrived from Watford in the summer of 2023, bringing with him raw potential that has quickly flourished at Carrington.
He became a mainstay in United’s Under-18 and Under-21 squads, playing a pivotal role in securing an impressive treble of youth-level trophies.
The starlet was tipped to make his senior debut at the start of this campaign under Erik ten Hag.
The Dutch manager included him in the pre-season tour to the United States.
Amass dazzled with his fearless runs and relentless energy, staking an early claim for first-team minutes.
It was a surprise to see him ignored by Ten Hag, even when Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia were sidelined due to injuries.
That wait finally ended in March when Amass made his Premier League debut in a commanding 3–0 win over Leicester City.
He has now made seven senior appearances, benefiting from Ruben Amorim’s strategic squad rotation ahead of the Europa League final.
Being named Young Player of the Year is a clear sign of the trust United’s hierarchy places in the emerging left-back.
The academy starlet is a technically polished left-back who possesses an eye for an incisive forward pass.
His attributes are tailor-made for Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation, which places high demands on its wing-backs to deliver pace and width.
With his engine and aggression, Amass looks an ideal fit for the left wing-back role.
His last two matches revealed that he must grow stronger to withstand the physical demands of top-flight football.
That will be his biggest focus heading into the 2025–26 campaign, as he eyes a regular starting role at Old Trafford.
