Sean Dyche offers Ruben Amorim ‘basic’ advice, wants Man United job

Manchester United have plunged into deeper problems under manager Ruben Amorim since he was appointed last November.

The United squad is unsuitable for his favoured 3-4-2-1 formation, which has affected the club’s progress under him.

United have accrued 24 points in 25 games under Amorim and are on course to finish in their lowest-ever position in the Premier League era.

Despite his struggles domestically, Amorim could still win a trophy if United beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final in Bilbao next week.

Former Everton boss Sean Dyche has advised Amorim on how to achieve results.

He told The Overlap’s Stick to Football podcast: “He is not going to change the way he plays. He’d better win some games – pretty quickly.

“If I went there and played my way, we would win more games. Just 4-4-2 – give them basic rules of principles.

“We are all going ‘fair play’ – but he has been there a while now, so you better start bringing some wins soon.

“Howard Wilkinson had a great saying: ‘ win, survive, succeed.’ Basically, you have to win first, and then you can survive because you are winning.

“Success is when you lay down all your principles and your playing style.

“So, if he can win enough, which is the worry at the minute, and then survive the process, and then succeed – that will be better.”

Dyche admitted that he would be ‘surprised if Amorim is not under pressure’ at the start of next season if he does not turn the tide around at Old Trafford.

He also expressed his desire to manage United and insisted that, despite recent struggles, they are a ‘big superpowered club’.
