Bruno Guimaraes makes promise to Newcastle United fans as Magpies near Champions League…

Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes has sent a passionate message to Newcastle United fans ahead of the final two games of the season.

The Magpies hold the aces in the race for Champions League football following their win against Chelsea last Sunday.

Eddie Howe’s side are currently third in the table, but could move up to second and effectively clinch a return to Europe’s top competition with a win against Arsenal this weekend.

Champions League football would guarantee Newcastle United at least £60m. That is according to journalist Julien Laurens, who also feels like Newcastle being in the competition will help them keep key players like Alexander Isak and Lewis Miley.

Newcastle’s Carabao Cup win confirmed European nights would return to Tyneside next season, but the fans always knew that the team had much more to give than the UEFA Conference League.

With two huge games left this season, Bruno Guimaraes has sent a clear message to the Newcastle fans.

Bruno Guimaraes’ message to Newcastle United fans

Since taking the role of club captain at the start of the season, Guimaraes has been Newcastle’s public speaker.

Most recently, Guimaraes praised Sandro Tonali after his goal in the Chelsea win. The Brazilian also got on the scoresheet that game, with his effort from distance looping over goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

After the Chelsea game, Guimaraes spoke to the press about the final two games of the season and how committed he feels towards the club.

“For me, I’m always the same Bruno,” the 27-year-old told Newcastle World.

“The guy who came from Brazil. Humble. I always want to help the team. I think my role in this club is to help the team play its best. Always, when I put the shirt on, I try to play as a fan.

“So I will never stop what I’m doing for this club. It’s a reason for me to be proud to wear this shirt. I have been the same Bruno in the three, four years I have been here. I always try to give my best.

“I feel the same as the fans. We know that, three years ago, the team never fought for the Champions League. Everything was a little bit not good for the club and now we achieved a lot for this club. But it’s not enough. I think this city, this team deserves more.”

Guimaraes has previously been linked with a move to Manchester City. But when he makes comments like that, it is very difficult to see him playing anywhere but Newcastle.

Bruno Guimaraes rallied the troops to help Newcastle United beat Chelsea

Guimaraes has done an exceptional job as captain this season and, thanks to the Carabao Cup win, has already solidified himself as one of Newcastle’s best-ever skippers.

The Brazilian’s influence on the team was felt even more in the dressing room ahead of Newcastle’s win against Chelsea.

It was revealed that Guimaraes told his Newcastle teammates to dream big before the game, knowing the fans inside St James’ Park were behind them.

His team talk proved to be a great one, as Newcastle dominated the first half and secured the three points with his late goal.

With another important game against Arsenal on the horizon, Guimaraes must rally the troops once again to get Newcastle back into the Champions League.
