Iconic former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was asked for his two cents on the performance of Ruben Amorim’s men against West Ham last Sunday.
Manchester United hosted West Ham at Old Trafford last weekend and the Red Devils suffered their 17th Premier League defeat of the 2024-25 campaign.
Ruben Amorim rotated his United first-team squad for the Premier League match only days after the Red Devils knocked Athletic Club out of the Europa League.
West Ham stunned United in the first half after Tomas Soucek broke the deadlock for the Hammers and the Red Devils went 1-0 down into half-time at Old Trafford.
Amorim’s side were placed on the back foot going into the second half and United were dealt another major blow after West Ham extended their advantage.
Jarrod Bowen scored the Hammers’ second in the 57th minute and Graham Potter’s men sealed all three Premier League points against United in a 2-0 win.
United only have two Premier League matches remaining in their poor 2024-25 campaign and the Red Devils are now winless in their last five league fixtures.

Sir Alex Ferguson was at Old Trafford and offered his two cents on Man Utd’s Premier League defeat to West Ham
Manchester United will end the season outside of the top half of the table and the Red Devils will sign off the campaign with their worst finish in the Premier League era.
The main focus for Ruben Amorim’s side is their Europa League campaign and United will meet Tottenham in the final on 21st May at the San Mames Stadium.
United’s defeat to West Ham has left Amorim’s men languishing in 16th place in the Premier League table and the Red Devils are only one point above Tottenham.
Sir Alex Ferguson, who is widely regarded as one of the best managers of all time, was in attendance at Old Trafford for United’s Premier League tie against West Ham.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the 83-year-old former United manager showed his sense of humour over the Red Devils’ performance at Old Trafford.
The newspaper reported that Ferguson ‘half-joked’ that he was “depressed” over the result and the United legend provided a ‘slight chuckle’ with his assessment.

Ruben Amorim speaks out on the Chelsea match in the Premier League and Man Utd’s Europa League final encounter vs Tottenham
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Amorim admitted that United need to bounce back for Friday’s Premier League tie against Chelsea.
“The best way is to face the game like we should face the game,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“We need to perform; we need to win points in the Premier League and that is the feeling.
“We talked about that after West Ham. We need to improve in the way we face competition, stay focused in every moment of the game because, again, against West Ham, we had clear situations to score.
“In the first opportunity of West Ham, they score one goal. So, these small details matter.
“The only way I know how to prepare a final, in the normal game for our league, we must play the same way as a final.”
Following United’s Premier League visit to Stamford Bridge on Friday, the Red Devils will face Tottenham in an all-English Europa League final showdown in Bilbao.
