**Newcastle United have a few players who wouldn't have looked out of place on the list of nominations for Player of the Season, but only one made the Premier League's top eight.**
We can't help but wonder if Lewis Hall would have made this list for Player of the Season or even Young Player of the Season had he not picked up that season-ending injury in March.
Dan Burn is another Newcastle player who may feel slightly aggrieved not to be on the Premier League's shortlist after an absolutely colossal season at the back for Newcastle. Scoring a goal at Wembley in a cup final and breaking into the England squad at 32, he's had plenty to celebrate, but this would have been the cherry on top for the Blyth-born hero.
Sandro Tonali probably started too late to land himself on the list after a slow start to proceedings, but his performances in the back half of the season have been very impressive and definitely Player of the Season-worthy.

Get voting for Alexander Isak!

It's probably little surprise to find that it is Alexander Isak who has been nominated on the eight-man shortlist after scoring 23 Premier League goals this season and breaking Alan Shearer's club record of scoring in eight consecutive games. You can vote for Isak by [following this link](https://www.premierleague.com/news/4309067).
He's been struggling of late, but you can never rule him out, his instincts are razor sharp, and if he scores against Arsenal on Sunday, you can almost be assured he'll add more before the season draws to a close.

> Nominated for the second campaign running, the Swedish striker has scored the second-most goals in the 2024/25 Premier League, netting 23 times, already bettering his tally from last season. Having also assisted six goals, he has directly contributed to 29 goal involvements, again the second-most in the competition, leading Newcastle's charge towards a top-five finish. He also scored in the EFL Cup final as Newcastle beat Liverpool to end their 56-year wait for a major trophy. Excluding penalties, Isak’s 19 league goals are the joint-most of all players this season.
One former, one current and one potential future Magpie are in the running for Player of the Season

Again, we can't help but feel this award is also going to Anfield along with Manager of the Season. The odds are weighted in their favour with Ryan Gravenberch, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mo Salah on the shortlist. We expect Salah will scoop the award after another mind-bending season of goal contributions.
Arsenal's Declan Rice, Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood and Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo make up the rest of the list.
A former Magpie and a potential future one on the shortlist, along with Isak. We're counting them, so we have the same number of nominees as Liverpool, so nur!
Seriously, though, how crazy is it that Chris Wood is nominated for Player of the Season? The lad's done well since leaving Newcastle.
