Sky Sports: Man Utd 'keeping eye' on former Chelsea star amid new contract talks, bargain deal could be struck

Man United are keeping an eye on a Nottingham Forest player ahead of the summer transfer window.

The United boss will be under significant pressure next season after a disappointing campaign in the Premier League, with his side 16th in the table, and closer to the relegation zone than the top five.

Much of Amorim’s success next season will reside on United’s recruitment in the summer, especially in attack, as they are the fifth-lowest-scoring side in the league this season. They have now been linked to an in-form Premier League star.

Man United ‘keeping eye’ on Hudson-Odoi

In somewhat of a surprising transfer update, United are reportedly considering a move to sign Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, who is currently in talks over a new contract at the City Ground.

Hudson-Odoi has seen somewhat of a resurgence under Nuno Espirito Santo this season, scoring five goals and providing two assists for Forest in 29 Premier League appearances this year.

According to Sky Sports Journalist Dharmesh Sheth on X, United are “keeping eye on Callum Hudson-Odoi’s situation at Nottingham Forest”. He also said that Roma and Napoli are keen on the winger too, and that Hudson-Odoi will assess his options in the summer after the season is over.

The winger joined Forest from Chelsea in 2023 for a fee of just £3 million after coming through the academy at Stamford Bridge and never managing to make a significant impact for the Blues.

However, after a couple of good seasons at the City Ground, Hudson-Odoi is now estimated to be worth around £20m, meaning that Forest could earn some solid profit on the 24-year-old if they were to sell him this summer.

Hudson-Odoi could be a cheaper alternative to Semenyo

The Forest star isn’t the only winger that United have been linked to ahead of the summer transfer window. They have also been linked with Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, who has had a superb season under Andoni Iraola.

The 25-year-old has scored nine goals and provided five assists in 35 Premier League games for the Cherries, form which has attracted the attention of United, who are looking for more firepower in attack.

However, Semenyo is expected to cost around the £40m mark, which is a hefty investment, especially considering that United are likely to spend £97m on bringing in Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap up front.

Instead of spending big on Semenyo, United could opt to make a move for Hudson-Odoi. It is not clear yet as to how much Forest would demand for the 24-year-old, but it would be much less than Bournemouth would want for Semenyo.

Seeing as the Forest star has just one year left on his contract at the City Ground, Forest may be keen to cash in on him this summer rather than let him go for free next year, meaning that United could sign him for a bargain price.
