Aston Villa loan star Marcus Rashford reportedly believes parent club Manchester United would be prepared to sell him for £40 million to anyone this summer and not just the Villans.
The 27-year-old was largely sidelined at Old Trafford under Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim, who excluded him from nearly all matchday squads following his final appearance on December 12.
He was then loaned to Villa in February and since moving to B6, Rashford has become a key player under Unai Emery, delivering four goals and six assists. However, his season was abruptly ended due to a muscle injury.
The United academy product's improved form was instrumental in Villa's progression to the Champions League quarter-finals, where they were ultimately defeated by Paris Saint-Germain over two legs.
Rashford's performances at Villa Park sealed him a spot in the latest England squad chosen by Three Lions manager Thomas Tuchel.
Villa have an option to sign him on a permanent transfer for £40m this summer. But the BBC claim that the talented forward believes United could sell him for that exact fee to other clubs if needed.
It is also reported that Rashford has 'enjoyed' his time at Villa and working with Emery.
It is said that he has no intention of taking a pay cut from his estimated £325,000-a-week salary and the Rashford camp do not believe Amorim wants to restore the player to his squad.
The former Sporting boss has previously stated that Rashford was unable to adapt to the way he wanted to play and train at M16.
“I couldn’t put Marcus to see the way you’re supposed to play football and to train the way I see it,” he said earlier this season.
“And sometimes you have one player that is really good with one coach, and the same player with another coach is different. I just wish the best to Rashford and to Unai Emery, and they can connect because he’s a very good player.”
Rashford may well have played his final game for Villa. He is ineligible to face United on the final day of the season and is not available for Friday's clash with Tottenham in B6.
"Youri (Tielemans) and Marcus are not available and (Jacob) Ramsey is suspended and other players are ready," Emery said. "We have to do each step forward, testing and analysing how they are recovering. I don't know exactly if they will be (available for the next game). Marcus can't play next week.
"But they are working in the facilities every day and they are feeling better."
