**Newcastle United could move a couple of players out of the club this summer, but their aim is to keep hold of their main stars, disappointing the 'big clubs' looking to swoop for our top players.**
As much as Newcastle need to add players to their squad, there is still scope for one or two players to leave if the deal makes sense and the club feels they have adequate cover or a good chance of signing a replacement.
One player who has been linked with an exit this summer is academy graduate Sean Longstaff, who is said to be attracting interest from Everton and Leeds United for a likely fee of around £10 million.
Given that Longstaff came through the academy, every penny of that deal would go back into the club's transfer budget as it would be seen as a pure profit deal in terms of PSR.

Sean Longstaff is heading for a Newcastle exit
Sean Longstaff was supposed to leave Newcastle in January

However, [Newcastle World](https://www.newcastleworld.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/sean-longstaff-newcastle-united-leeds-united-5128556) claims that had Paul Mitchell got his way, Longstaff would have gone in January as he was earmarked as a player to sell before Lloyd Kelly and Miguel Almiron were moved on.
It had been reported that Longstaff, who'd signed a new deal in order to keep his value so the club could make some money from a sale, had asked to stay in January with Newcastle closing in on another cup final.
The Geordie knew that this could be his last shot at lifting silverware with his boyhood club. He was granted his wish, and Newcastle, of course, went on to be crowned EFL Cup champions, so it all worked out well for Longy.
A move to a new club makes sense for everyone

However, the 27-year-old has been seen less and less on the pitch as the season has gone on, which seems like a sure sign that the exit door beckons for Longstaff.
Sean Longstaff can leave the club with his head held high. He may not have been a world-beater, but he held his own during the Eddie Howe revolution but The club have surpassed his level now, and it would just be a waste for him to sit on the bench for the rest of his career.
A move to Leeds or Everton would see Longstaff getting many more minutes than if he stays, so a move is probably best for everyone.
