Jose Mourinho eager to sign £38m Man Utd star for Fenerbahce - report

Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho is eager to sign Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund during the summer transfer window, according to Turkish outlet Sozcu.

The Dane has experienced a difficult season with the Red Devils, registering only four goals from 30 Premier League appearances.

This has increased speculation that he could be offloaded, and Sozcu claim that Fenerbahce are weighing up an approach.

Mourinho wants to bring two top-class centre-forwards to the Istanbul giants. Hojlund is one of the names on his radar.

Fenerbahce will propose to sign him on loan with an option to purchase next year.

United unlikely to loan Hojlund to Fenerbahce

Hojlund had a decent debut season with the Red Devils. He registered 10 league goals and went on a six-match scoring streak.

The 22-year-old was anticipated to improve his tally this campaign, but he has looked out of sorts for most of the season.

Hojlund has received limited service from his teammates, but he has also been guilty of squandering big chances.

The Dane missed three glorious opportunities to score during the 2-0 Premier League defeat to West Ham United last weekend.

Despite his shortcomings, we would be surprised if United entertain the prospect of loaning him to Fenerbahce this summer.

The Red Devils made a huge outlay of £72 million to purchase him from Atalanta and may have to cut their losses for a future sale.

However, sending him on loan to Fenerbahce would not improve his transfer value. The Turkish outfit are also unlikely to afford a permanent transfer. Youssef En-Nesyri is their record signing at just £16.4m.

If United were to sign a marquee striker, the £38 million-rated star is more likely to return to Serie A with either Napoli or Juventus.

Hojlund played his best football with Atalanta in the Italian top-flight. A productive loan stint would help United secure a good fee.
