Maximo Perrone in action for Como and Yan Couto in action of Dortmund
Maximo Perrone and Yan Couto are set to net Manchester City a significant summer windfall
Manchester City are preparing for a busy summer transfer window.
The Blues could win the FA Cup this weekend but even victory over Crystal Palace at Wembley on Saturday won't mask the failings of the season. City are still facing a fight to secure Champions League football next season while they have fallen off the pace domestically and in Europe this term.
Their woeful autumn run which extended into winter dashed any hopes of a Premier League title, while their Champions League aspirations never really got going and City were knocked out in the play-off round.
Those failings prompted a flurry of transfer arrivals in the mid-season window as City spent big with an eye on the future. More will follow this summer with Kevin De Bruyne the highest profile exit as his glittering Etihad career comes to an end.
Other senior players might also depart while City are closing in on a deal with Italian side Como to sell Maximo Perrone for over £25m (€30m). The 22-year-old has spent this season on loan with the Serie A side.
Como have been happy enough with Perrone's contributions to want to sign him on a permanent deal and a £25m fee is close to being agreed. That will see the Blues make around £17m profit on a player who made just one appearance for City.
Jacob Wright is also close to completing a move to Championship side Norwich that would net City in the region of £2.3m. Wright moved to Norwich on loan for the second half of this season after a dramatic U-turn that saw him choose not to join Swansea in the final week of the window.
Those deals will swell the City coffers and two more are also agreed. Yan Couto has triggered his €30million move to German side Borussia Dortmund and will join the Bundesliga outfit permanently in the summer.
And Nottingham Forest are set to pay £4million to confirm the signing of young defender Joel Ndala who moved to the City Ground on an initial loan move in January. There is an obligation for Forest to make that move permanent come the summer.
The sales of academy players count as pure profit under the terms of the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and are viewed by clubs as a vital source of income in helping to stay within the lines.
City's summer windfall will likely not end there. The likes of Callum Doyle, Josh Wilson-Esbrand, Kayky and Issa Kabore could all be sold in the summer.
The Blues could also earn money from former players moving on with the likes of Liam Delap and Taylor Harwood-Bellis potentially activating sell-on clauses should they leave Ipswich Town and Southampton respectively.
