Leeds United handed £5m boost after latest admission as 'contact made' for bargain transfer

Leeds Unitedare getting themselves prepared for their return to the Premier League. Daniel Farke's side are back in the top-flight following a two-year absence.

The Whites earned promotion back to the Championship after Burnley beat Sheffield United on Easter Monday, before lifting the title earlier this month. Farke's men scraped past Plymouth Arygle on the final day of the season to pip Burnley to become champions for the second time in five years.

Though celebrations are still ongoing, Leeds United will have their sight firmly fixed on planning for the 2025/26 season. The Whites are expected to dip into the summer transfer market to get some players on board ahead of their Premier League return, with a No.9, goalkeeper and full-back among the areas they are looking at.

With this in mind, Leeds Live takes a look at the latest rumours and transfer updates from Elland Road...

Geubbels latest

Leeds United target Willem Geubbels has issued an update on his future. The Whites wanted to sign the 23-year-old in January but he remained at Swiss side St Gallen.

However, there is talk that the Frenchman could leave this summer, having scored 13 goals in 30 league matches this season. It's reported that Leeds and Ipswich Town are both weighing up offers for Geubbels, while Union Berlin are said to have tabled a bid in the region of £5million.

Speaking on his future, Geubbels said, via Berliner Kurier: "My contract runs until 2027. Let's see what happens. Offers? At the moment, I don't know exactly what I'm really interested in. If there are offers, we'll discuss it."

Leeds Live says: It's clear that Leeds need to sign another striker this summer. Joel Piroe led the line in the Championship and finished as the division's top scorer, but the Whites need more support with Mateo Joseph and Patrick Bamford looking like they could leave the club.

While a Premier League proven goalscorer would be preferred, Geubbels could be an astute pick up and one that could help fire Leeds to survival this season. He hasn't demonstrated his abilities at the top level yet, but he has all the attributes you need to perform in English football.

Geubbels is a fast, quick and strong forward, and one that likes to dribble and shoot. He is capable of playing down the middle or out wide but prefers to cut inside get a shot off.

Walker-Peters interest

Leeds United are showing interest in a move for Southampton right-back Kyle Walker-Peters, according to Leeds United News. The 28-year-old is out of contract this summer and has attracted attention for the likes of Leeds, West Ham, Tottenham and Everton. It's added that there is foreign interest in the Saints defender.

Daniel Farke's side have made contact and there is hope they can convince Walker-Peters to make the move to Elland Road, despite severe competition for his signature. The England international has a plethora of Premier League experience, having clocked over 100 top-flight appearances over the years.

Leeds Live says: This is the perfect cost-effective signing Leeds need to make. It's evident that the Whites require more strength and depth in the full-back area and getting someone with the experience, quality and expertise like Walker-Peters on a free transfer would be ideal.

Although Jayden Bogle is anticipated to start at right-back for Leeds next season, Walker-Peters can act as back-up and provide competition in that area, while also being used on the left side of defence. He can play in either full-back position and it's versatility that could go along way.
