Exclusive: Liverpool doing a lot of work on Sheffield United player Chris Wilder thinks has a 'huge future'

EFL Analysis has learned that Premier League champions Liverpool are doing work on one Sheffield United player.

Sheffield United will compete against Sunderland in the Championship play-off final later this month.

As well as a spot in the Premier League, there’s a big prize fund available to the play-off winner.

Sheffield United will pay Peterborough United £1m if they go on to win the showpiece at Wembley Stadium due to a transfer they completed last summer.

Meanwhile, attention for most teams has turned toward the upcoming transfer window, with Liverpool doing their homework on one of the Blades’ rising stars.

Liverpool love Sheffield United player Ryan One

The player in question is Ryan One, who moved to Bramall Lane from Hamilton Academical FC in 2023.

In an EFL Analysis exclusive, we have spoken to transfer expert Graeme Bailey, who detailed Liverpool’s interest in the player.

He told us: “In terms of under-the-radar players to watch, someone like Ryan One at Sheffield United could be on the move.

“There’s been interest from Liverpool, and another Premier League club have looked at him as well.

“Ryan One is seen as being along the lines of William Osula or Wilson Odobert, who could come in and make an impact in the Premier League.

“He’s not one you would think of, but Liverpool are doing an awful lot of work on him. They love him, and I’d be surprised if he doesn’t end up at Liverpool.”

Chris Wilder on Ryan One Sheffield United future

One is under contract with the Yorkshire outfit until the summer of 2029.

He’s made 15 senior appearances for Sheffield United, 12 of which came in the Championship this season.

Wilder was asked about One’s future at the club last month after talk of interest from Ipswich Town, as per the Yorkshire Post.

He said: “Ryan has a huge future in front of him, and his future is in a red and white shirt.

“I have spoken to the owners about securing our best players and talking about contract situations and making sure we don’t run contracts down unless players don’t want to be here.

“But there’s been no one who has spoken about leaving this season and doesn’t want to be here.”
