Bucks insider shuts down Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors, saying a deal this offseason is unrealistic and highly unlikely due to Giannis' upcoming supermax contract requirements and the complicated mechanics involved for teams.
As rumors swirl about Giannis Antetokounmpo's future and what the Greek Freak might prioritize in a potential new team, Milwaukee Bucks insider Jim Owczarski has pushed back on the idea that a trade is realistic this offseason.

"Giannis will not be traded this summer," Owczarski reported. "The greater likelihood is, well, never."
He added, "Second: These are the unsexy, aka realistic, conversations. He will require another supermax. So, yeah, the ACTUAL mechanics of this are very, very clunky for teams."
Despite that, the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs have long been considered potential landing spots for Giannis.
This comes after ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the 30-year-old two-time MVP appears open to exploring options beyond Milwaukee for the first time in his career.
According to Kurt Helin of NBC Sports, Houston is even willing to include rising center Alperen Sengun in a possible deal.

Antetokounmpo is under contract with the Bucks through the 2026–27 season and holds a $62 million player option for 2027–28. His contract does not include a no-trade clause.
This offseason follows Milwaukee's third straight first-round playoff exit.
Giannis, selected 15th overall by the Bucks in the 2013 NBA Draft, has been the face of the franchise and led them to the 2021 NBA championship.
