Erling Haaland has been a massive hit with fans of Manchester City.
Since moving to the Etihad Stadium from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, the Norwegian star has been a goalscoring machine, but that is not the only reason supporters of the Manchester club love him, as the 24-year-old is a key figure in the dressing room due to his lovable personality.
Man City will lose Kevin De Bruyne this summer, and the Belgian might not be the only club legend heading for the exit door, as Pep Guardiola is also open to letting Ilkay Gundogan leave should all his midfield targets arrive.
With things changing rapidly at the Manchester club, fans will want to see some of their iconic figures stay and having just penned a new deal at the Etihad, Haaland has dropped a hint regarding the long-term plans for his career.

Erling Haaland hints at long-term stay at Man City
Real Madrid have always been linked to Haaland, as it has been said in the past that the Norwegian wants to play in many different leagues throughout his career.
The 24-year-old put the worries of many City fans to bed at the start of the year by signing a massive nine and a half year contract, but that doesn’t always guarantee the player stays for that length of time.

Haaland may have now dropped a hint regarding his future plans, as the striker has stated that one day he will be in the position De Bruyne is in right now, which suggests he may try to replicate the Belgian’s 10-year stay at the Etihad.
When asked what the future looks like for Man City, Haaland told BBC Sport: “Of course, it is going to be different with different players, and one day it will be me, who’s going to be in Kevin’s shoes, you know? It’s with everyone. Every career kind of ends, you know?
“But, yeah, it’s going to be different with new faces, new players and everything. But we have to continue what we’ve been doing. For me personally, the last couple of years, coming to City and winning everything straight away.
“I want to win more trophies. I want to continue to win things and to be successful with City. That’s why I’m here and, yeah, it’s not going to be easy, because the most difficult thing after you win is to do it again.
“This club will keep on winning no matter what. So when Kevin leaves, someone has to come in and replace him. That’s just how it is.”
This would be great news for Man City as there is no striker in the world they would rather have at present, and Haaland will have eyes on several records in Manchester, especially one currently held by Sergio Aguero.
Where Erling Haaland ranks amongst Man City’s best goalscorers
Aguero is Man City’s all-time top goalscorer with 260 goals, and that is a record Haaland will have an eye on as the Norwegian superstar currently sits sixth on the list with 120 strikes.
To be in this position after just three seasons is very impressive, with the 24-year-old’s goal per game ratio the highest out of anyone in the top ten of City’s greatest goalscorers.
Player Games Goals
Sergio Aguero 390 260
Joe Hayes 339 146
Francis Lee 308 138
Colin Bell 457 137
Raheem Sterling 339 131
Erling Haaland 139 120
Man City’s all-time leading goalscorers
It will likely take Haaland just one more campaign to reach the second spot on the list, but to reach Aguero, a few more seasons will be required.
Haaland has not been happy with Man City’s current campaign, yet he still managed to produce 30 goals, which really says it all about the Norwegian superstar.
