Man United are not prepared to let Bruno Fernandes leave the club this summer despite interest from Saudi Pro League clubs, according to their former chief scout.

Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at Old Trafford during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that there is “no way” the 30-year-old will be allowed to leave this summer.

Ruben Amorim values him as a crucial member of his squad both on and off the pitch, and United are not prepared to weaken their squad.

This comes after Football Insider revealed Fernandes is not for sale at Man United regardless of whether they are playing in the Champions League next season.

Concerns about the club’s financial position had led to suggestions that they may need to sell key players, but the Portugal international is not on the list of potential exits.

Meanwhile, former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider that it would take an “extraordinarily large” fee to let Fernandes leave.

Man United to turn down Bruno Fernandes offers

Brown told Football Insider last month that Man United will not sell Fernandes under any circumstances despite speculation of a £90million price tag.

The former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also worked for the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa and West Ham, explained that losing their captain and best player would be “catastrophic” for United.

“*Man United will not let Bruno Fernandes go to Saudi,*” he told Football Insider.

“Losing him would be catastrophic, wherever he goes or for whatever reason.

“It shouldn’t even be a question, there should be no way they even consider letting Fernandes leave regardless of the money involved.

“The focus is on getting players in around him.

“They want to strengthen the squad and take the burden away from him, but whatever happens he’s going to be a crucial part of the team.

“Ruben Amorim wants to keep him and values him highly.

“Even if the finances are taken into consideration, there are so many players at the club that they would sell before they even consider letting Bruno leave.”

Jonathan Tah update emerges amid agent talks

Amid ongoing speculation about some of United’s current crop of players, they are set to enter the transfer market to strengthen in a number of positions.

Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah has been linked with the move, but Brown told Football Insider United are unlikely to pursue Tah’s signature.

As a result, the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are set to battle it out for his signature as his agent has held talks with a number of Europe’s top clubs.

This comes after Football Insider revealed Newcastle United want to sign Tah but will struggle to compete with the likes of Madrid and Bayern.
