Defender Tyler Fredricson has been named Manchester United’s Reserve-Team Player of the Year for 2024/25.
The award, named after the club’s former director, Denzil Haroun, is given to the best U21 player of the season.
Darren Fletcher and Adnan Januzaj are two previous award winners. Goalkeeper Elyh Harrison received it last season.
Fredricson has been brilliant for the academy this season, and his form earned him a call-up by manager Ruben Amorim to the first team.
He captained the youth sides in the UEFA Youth League, Premier League 2, National League Cup and English Football League (EFL) Trophy, making 19 appearances across all competitions.
The English centre-back’s first involvement with the first team was in 2022 when he was named in the matchday squad for the Europa League fixture against Real Sociedad.
He also appeared as an unused substitute in two Premier League games before finally debuting against Wolverhampton Wanderers last month.
Fredricson is the 254th academy graduate to play for the first team and the third academy player to be handed his debut by Amorim.
He featured in the 4-3 defeat at Brentford but was an unused substitute in Sunday’s defeat to West Ham United at Old Trafford.
With Amorim seeking to prevent another injury blow ahead of the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur, Fredricson could feature against Chelsea today.
Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are the only fit senior centre-backs available for selection for this evening’s encounter with the Blues.
Fredricson will likely play as the left or the right-sided centre-back in Amorim’s three-man centre-back pairing.
Harry Amass, who could also play against Chelsea, has been named the club’s Young Player of the Year.
