Manchester United have several players who have experienced a Europa League final before, but they were not victorious on that night in Gdansk.
Heartache in cup finals is something Manchester United, as a club, know a lot about and it is a possibility next week that Tottenham will come away from Bilbao with the trophy.
Ruben Amorim hopes that won’t be the case and that United’s first-team set the record straight after losing three times against Tottenham this season, twice in the Premier League and once in the Carabao Cup.
It bodes well that United are going into the Europa League final as the only unbeaten team in the competition. That doesn’t make the Red Devils favourites in Bilbao, but they face a Tottenham side with some key injuries in attack, to players such as James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.
United have injuries on their own to worry about, especially in defence as Amorim could be without Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro for the final.

5 Man Utd players with Europa League final experience
It’s crucial having players with experience in European competition.
Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho would call it ‘heritage’ and he knows a thing or two about winning the Europa League from his time at Old Trafford.
However, Mourinho had been replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by the time United reached the Europa League final again, in 2021, when they lost on penalties against Villarreal.

Five players from that final squad remain at United and will be hoping for a better result when they take on Tottenham at the San Mames Stadium. They include Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof, Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo.
Of those five, only Lindelof and Fernandes featured in the game, after starting against the Spanish side.
Maguire is likely to start against Tottenham after playing a key role in United’s European campaign.
United loanee Marcus Rashford also started in Gdansk.
How Man Utd will approach the 2025 Europa League final
Manchester United hosted a media open day ahead of the Europa League final on Wednesday, with media events taking place at Carrington as well as Old Trafford.
Amorim took the time to speak with 2008 Champions League-winner Owen Hargreaves about the upcoming all-English final.
The United head coach spoke about how Tottenham won’t change their approach going into the game. He explained that Ange Postecoglou’s side have a system and they will stick to it.
"You can understand what Spurs will do because of their strong identity. They will not change."
