Alexander Isak’s lofty price tag at Newcastle United should be enough to ward off interest from the likes of Arsenal, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about Newcastle’s efforts to keep hold of their star striker.
Isak’s form since his arrival at St. James’ Park three years ago has resulted in 54 Premier League goals and a further nine assists, accompanied by significant interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and other clubs.
However, sources have told Football Insider that Newcastle’s valuation of Isak is set to be well within the territory of a record British transfer fee, and Eddie Howe could command as much as £150million for him.
Although Arsenal are in the hunt for a new striker this summer and had made Isak their top target, such a significant potential outlay for the Swede could see Mikel Arteta turn attention elsewhere this summer.

Newcastle to ‘price every club out’ of Alexander Isak transfer
Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider last month that Premier League PSR rules may force Newcastle to sell players like Lewis Miley, but the Magpies are determined to keep Isak.

Speaking on the new Inside Track, O’Rourke said that while Arsenal will give Arteta money to spend on a new striker this summer, Isak’s huge price tag at Newcastle could force the Gunners to look elsewhere.
“The dream target was Alexander Isak from Newcastle”, he told Football Insider.
“Newcastle are going to price every club out of the market for Alexander Isak, with the price tag they put on his head.”

Arsenal ready to cross Isak off striker shortlist
Although a move to North London would be attractive to Isak, the striker has shown no inclination that he wants to leave Newcastle with both the EFL Cup and Champions League qualification almost secured.
Arsenal have prioritised signing a new striker over any other position with their summer transfer budget, and Football Insider revealed that Berta is likely to pass on an £85m move for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.
A dream front three of Isak, Nico Williams and Bukayo Saka now looks highly unlikely at the Emirates, but the Gunners are still set to spend big on the centre-forward they’ve been sorely lacking this season.
Liverpool will also be rebuffed by Newcastle’s nine-figure valuation of Isak this summer in their own hunt for a number nine, and it remains to be seen how the Premier League’s top two respond to this setback.
