Newcastle United are expected to offload several senior players this summer, with Odysseas Vlachodimos, Callum Wilson, Sean Longstaff and potentially Harvey Barnes all among those whose futures are uncertain, according to Daily Mail’s Craig Hope.
Hope identified the goalkeeper department as the likeliest area to see turnover.
“At least one if not more of the goalkeepers will go, starting with Odysseas Vlachodimos,” Hope wrote. “And depending on who comes in — James Trafford remains in the frame — maybe even one of Nick Pope or Martin Dubravka.”
Wilson’s situation remains unresolved, with Hope revealing a new contractual detail about it.
“Callum Wilson would appear to have a 50–50 chance of staying right now,” Hope wrote. “To stay, he would almost certainly have to re-negotiate a deal to include appearance-based incentives.”
Hope added that an automatic extension clause in Wilson’s contract will not be triggered due to a lack of appearances.
“Don’t forget, it could also be the player who fancies a new challenge—especially if an offer comes from abroad,” Hope added.
Longstaff’s status also remains in flux, with the homegrown talent among those expected to depart.
“He isn’t in the worst position, with 12 months to run on his contract and a European campaign to come next season,” Hope wrote. “Ideally, for the club, they would want to recoup a fee for him this summer. That, however, needs a buyer and needs the player to want to go.”
On the left flank, Harvey Barnes is drawing interest, and although a sale was not seriously considered at any point, there’s a chance he departs.
“A few Premier League clubs are interested… including, I’m told, Aston Villa,” Hope revealed. “Coming out of January, I expected Barnes to move on this summer.”
