Manchester United have had a handful of players catch Ruben Amorim’s eye so far in his time as head coach.
When Ineos chose to appoint the Portuguese coach, the need to use the academy will have been made abundantly clear.
In fact, Ruben Amorim handed out 27 academy debuts at Sporting CP and so this probably showed Ineos why he was perfect for the role.
Since arriving at Old Trafford in November, Amorim has given three Manchester United academy debuts, a figure which will likely drastically increase once the team are in a better place.
Each of the three players to earn Amorim’s trust have impressed with Chido Obi, Harry Amass and Tyler Fredricson all taking no time to adapt to the level.
Now, after Amass won United’s academy player of the year, another prestigious award has been handed to one of United’s talents.

At United, there is a special link between the academy and first team which makes it brilliant to watch a prospect build his way into the first team.

Over the past few months, Fredricson has been doing this for United with impressive performances. Fredricson wowed Amorim on his debut and has been a regular ever since.
However, it is his under-21 displays which have won him the Denzil Haroun Reserve-Team Player of the Year award.
After being handed the award, which several first team fan favourites have gone on to win, Fredricson reacted.
“I’m just really grateful to the manager for putting his trust in me and I’m working hard keep that trust and hopefully I can play more games and see where it takes me.”
Fredricson became United’s 253rd academy graduate, and while we would assume he will be joined by a number of teammates on this list in the coming weeks, his debut is one which Nick Cox has been raving about.

“In addition to this being an amazing moment, it’s my privilege to tell you that you have won our under 21s player of the season award, so congratulations. It’s well earned, you played the majority of the games and you captained the team, you’ve performed well but more importantly you put an amazing season together after a couple of challenging ones.
“It’s resulted in your debut, and for a debut to be from the start at Old Trafford is special and then to play the way you did was really special.
“You follow some amazing players who will be on this wall as well, Darren Fletcher, Michael Keane, Nicky Butt, John O’Shea will all have won that award in the past so another accolade to add to your list of achievements, well done, we’re already really proud of you.”
Cox added, “Tyler has shown fantastic qualities of perseverance, determination and patience to earn first-team opportunities this season.”
