Erling Haaland labels ex-Leeds United boss a 'legend' after Man City training ground visit

Manchester City star Erling Haaland has described former Leeds United boss Neil Warnock as a "legend of the game". Warnock recently visited the Premier League club's training ground and had his picture taken with the forward.

When asked about meeting Warnock, Haaland, who has a big soft spot for the Whites having been born in the city when his father Alf-Inge was playing for the club, told BBC Sport: "He's a really funny guy. I've been watching a lot football everywhere my whole life, especially English football. He's a legend in the game.

"I didn't know he was there (at the training ground) so I was like 'oh!' I had a good chat with him. He's a funny guy; the old school way a little bit. I agree with a lot of things he said, actually. I'm also a little bit old school because of my father.

"We had some good discussions. He's funny and a good guy."

Haaland is expected to lead the line for City when they face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup tomorrow evening, kick-off 4:30pm. Pep Guardiola's team are fourth in the top flight, a whopping 18 points behind Premier League champions Liverpool.

"This season has been tough," admitted Haaland, who missed seven matches with an ankle injury. "It is not nice to lose so many games. It is boring and not fun. That's why we need to finish well and get a trophy.

"It is a good habit to reach Wembley and always important to win trophies. We have the FA Cup final to play for and in a horrific season we still managed to do this."
