Amanda Holden has worn blue for a special reason on Heart's Breakfast show this morning. The Britain's Got Talent judge has been open about her support for Premier League club Everton for many years.
Everton will play their final game at Goodison Park on Sunday, May 18, against relegated Southampton. After an era lasting 133 years, fans will bid farewell to the 'Grand Old Lady', with fans planning to meet the team bus for a final time and celebrations confirmed inside the ground afterwards.
Posting a video to Instagram, Amanda said: "Wearing @everton blue from @florere ahead of our last match @goodisonfarewell." The TV personality appeared in good spirits as she said: "Hello, good morning and happy Friday.
"Today, I'm in Royal Blue and there is a very special reason for that because I'm a big Everton fan and on Sunday. it's our last ever match at Goodison. So to celebrate, I wore blue and I brought in this."
Amanda brought an Everton corner flag into the Heart studio, telling listeners that it came from a match she was at. She added "I literally ran across the pitch at Goodison and I stole the flag", before telling security to turn a "blind eye". The flag has been in her husband Chris Hughes's office ever since.
Despite being born and raised in Portsmouth, Amanda is a huge fan of Everton. She has been seen at home and away games for many years and has posted about the club several times on social media.
In 2016, the mum-of-two became an honorary patron of Everton in the Community, the official charity of Everton Football Club. At the time the lifelong fan of the Toffees said: "I’m so proud to take on a role as patron for Everton in the Community which is such a special charity; changing and saving the lives of people all across Merseyside every day.
"It’s an incredible charity. Everton is my club and there’s an ‘Everton way’ and Everton in the Community embodies the values of Evertonians."
She added: "You are never alone when you are a part of Everton in the Community, it very much feels like a family and you are always made to feel welcome."
Following the club's historic derby win at Anfield in 2021, Amanda shared a photo of herself in a blue and white Everton scarf to Instagram. A video of Amanda saw her pour a glass of Everton gin to celebrate the occasion. She said at the time she was "proud to be a blue nose" before adding "come on you Blues."
Earlier this month, Everton revealed plans for the final home game of the season. They include pre-match activity in and around the ground.
There will also be a post-match ceremony that will bring together current players and Blues greats to celebrate 133 years of the stadium, which from next season will host the club's women's team.
Before kick-off, the 1878s supporters’ group will stage a special coach welcome as the surrounding streets of Goodison become a sea of blue.
Following the final whistle, Evertonians will be asked to remain in their seats for a special on-pitch celebration that will include guest presenters, appearances from current and former players, live musical performances.
