Report: Everton now preparing opening offer to make 'excellent' midfielder TFG's first summer…

Everton are plotting their summer targets with Angus Kinnear now on board at Finch Farm.

For the first time in years, Everton are finally going to be able to spend with freedom in the summer transfer window.

This will be music to the ears of David Moyes who has held up his end of the bargain by keeping the Toffees afloat in the Premier League.

Kinnear has admitted Everton have a lot of work to do before they kick off their 2025/26 campaign with huge changes being made on and off the pitch.

Players are going to depart at the end of their deals, but this provides the Blues with an opportunity to bring in some fresh talent to bolster Moyes’ options.

Everton are keen to add a new midfielder to their squad this summer and there is one player who they are now looking to make their opening bid for.

Everton preparing opening bid for Habib Diarra

It is being strongly reported that Everton hold an interest in midfielder Habib Diarra from French side Strasbourg.

Midfield duo Idrissa Gana Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucoure are yet to secure their futures on Merseyside, which has the club looking ahead to their summer options.

According to Wiw Sport, Everton are now ready to make their move for the Senegal international who looks set to leave Liam Rosenior’s side.

However, the Toffees are not alone as Brighton & Hove Albion are also believed to be eyeing a summer swoop for the 21-year-old.

Everton have been given the green light to move for Diarra with Strasbourg not looking to stand in his way of an exit this summer.

It is believed an offer in the region of €20m (£17m) could be enough to prise Diarra away from the Ligue 1 outfit.

Habib Diarra is an ‘excellent’ young talent

It is expected Everton will look to keep Gueye on a new deal this summer, but there has been no announcement made by the club yet.

The Senegal international will be very familiar with Diarra from their time playing for the national side.

What will be interesting to see is whether Diarra is still open to an Everton move even if Gueye does end up departing as a free agent.

Diarra has been praised as an ‘excellent’ young talent by talent scout Jacek Kulig with the 21-year-old even impressing at international level.

James Garner has received criticism as Gueye’s midfield partner in the second half of this season.

Perhaps Diarra is the player to come in and potentially prove to be the perfect partner for Gueye.
