Xabi Alonso will speak to contacts at Liverpool about potentially bringing Alexis Mac Allister to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 26-year-old has emerged as a target for Los Blancos.
While nothing has been confirmed yet, Alonso is widely expected to replace Carlo Ancelotti at the Bernabeu and has already begun planning for the transfer window.
However, Brown told Football Insider on 12 May that Liverpool will block Mac Allister’s move to Madrid after losing Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Reds have no intention of letting the 26-year-old leave as Arne Slot is not prepared to weaken his squad after winning the Premier League.
Mac Allister has played the fourth-most minutes of any Liverpool player across all competitions this season and remains a vital part of Slot’s plans.

Real Madrid set sights on Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister
Brown told Football Insider that Rodri will snub Real Madrid to stay at Man City, forcing the Spanish giants to look elsewhere for a new midfield option.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted Liverpool will do all they can to keep hold of Mac Allister despite Alonso’s interest.
“*Real Madrid have got some problems going into the window,*” he told Football Insider.
“The manager has gone, it looks like Xabi Alonso will be the one to replace him.
“Then you’ve got the two centre-halves who need replacing, and there’s been a bit of talk they want to sign a new midfielder as well.
“So they need three or four players, and they’ve got to be top-level players which aren’t easy to find.
“They’ve got Alexander-Arnold coming in so that’s one position off their list.
“Alexis Mac Allister is a player I hear they have been looking at as well.
“The new manager knows the Liverpool scene well, he’ll still have his contacts at the club and he’ll be speaking to them about a possible deal. It would be a huge deal.
“So he’ll know the situation as much as any opposition manager can do.”

Arne Slot plotting Rodrygo swoop after £85million twist
As speculation continues about transfer sagas between Liverpool and Real Madrid, the Reds are eyeing a deal to bring Rodrygo in the opposite direction.
Brown told Football Insider on 15 May that Liverpool want to sign Rodrygo to bolster Slot’s options out wide and have been placed on alert by his availability.
His winning experience as a regular under Ancelotti is seen as a key asset, but a move will depend on whether they deem his lofty price tag good value for money.
This comes after Football Insider revealed Arsenal could be deterred from signing Rodrygo after learning of Madrid’s £85million demand.
