Manchester United have endured a horrific goalscoring campaign this season, with Rasmus Hojlund netting just four Premier League goals.

Staff at Carrington are understood to be growing increasingly frustrated with the striker’s failure to convert chances or win matches.

Especially during a season where goals have been at a premium.

The lack of impact has only added to concerns about United’s attacking output, with Alejandro Garnacho, Joshua Zirkzee and others also struggling to consistently find the net.

Though many point to the team’s disjointed structure and lack of attacking fluidity as a key contributing factor.

Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce eyeing Rasmus Hojlund

Now, Sozcu report that former United manager Jose Mourinho is eyeing a swoop for Hojlund.

Mourinho is hoping to bring the Danish striker to Fenerbahce on a season-long loan, with an option to buy.

United paid an initial £64m to sign Hojlund from Atalanta in 2023.

However with just four league goals in 30 games – 21 of which were starts, the club may be open to offloading the 22-year-old temporarily.

Across his United and Atalanta careers, Hojlund has managed 36 goals in 126 appearances.

A return that has left many questioning whether he’s ready to lead the line for a club of United’s stature.

Hojlund was even linked with an exit in January winter window, although nothing became concrete.

Fenerbahce, who are preparing to offload experienced forwards such as Edin Dzeko, Youssef En-Nesyri and Cenk Tosun, see Hojlund as a potential project striker under Mourinho’s guidance.

Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim has remained coy when asked about Hojlund’s future, stating last month: “We like our strikers.

“We’re improving our strikers. We’ll see what happens next season. We’ll see.”

Notably, Mourinho has a track record of rejuvenating struggling forwards – including helping Tammy Abraham rediscover his best form at AS Roma.

This may be a move that benefits both parties, as United search for a more reliable goalscorer, with the Dane looing to rediscover his confidence elsewhere.
