Apart from the obvious need for a ruthless goalscorer, Manchester United are also trying to add creativity to their frontline, having seen Rasmus Hojlund struggle up top on his own.
Matheus Cunha is the obvious choice to come in, but there have also been links with Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo as well as Antoine Semenyo of Bournemouth.
While both have excelled this season, it must be remembered that they will not come cheap. The Bees will demand £60 million to let the 25-year-old leave, while the Cherries will ask for a similar amount for the Ghanaian.
Funds are tight at Old Trafford at the moment and only player sales can lead to further incomings. A more economical option makes more sense from a financial point of view.
Leroy Sane offered to United
Which is why the club are mulling over a move for Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane, whose contract at the Bavarian giants expires in the summer.
Bayern are trying to agree a new deal but so far, no agreement has been reached and according to journalist Santi Aouna, the German’s camp have reached out to potential suitors in the Premier League about a possible move.

The two-time Premier League winner can play on either side of the striker and has registered 13 goals and six assists this season.
His Premier League experience would be an invaluable asset but his current wages of €288,462 gross per week (via capology) could prove to be a stumbling block.
Sane will naturally want a raise, especially if he joins as a free agent but INEOS are currently trying to trim the bloated wage bill. It will be intriguing to see what happens in the end.
