This summer, Liverpool will lose one of their star players for nothing when Trent Alexander-Arnold joins Real Madrid on a free transfer. He might not be the only player they lose under similar circumstances either as reports have revealed that the club are worried another star will follow suit soon.
Having come through the ranks at Anfield, Alexander-Arnold became a hero to Liverpool fans and won just about everything there was to win with the club. He shone at right-back and helped revolutionise the position over the years. He was a club legend, but with his contract expiring this summer, he recently announced his plans to leave Liverpool and join Real Madrid.
It put an end to months of speculation about a move to Los Blancos, but has left Liverpool fans furious with the Englishman. Now, the club fears that another player will replicate his actions following recent behaviour.

Trent Alexander-Arnold announces Liverpool departure at the end of the season
Trent Alexander-Arnold has announced his departure from Liverpool at the end of the season when his contract at Anfield finishes. The right-back, who is expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, came to the conclusion he wants a new challenge after two decades with his boyhood club. “After 20 years at Liverpool Football Club, now is the time for me to confirm that I will be leaving at the end of the season,” Alexander-Arnold announced on his social media channels this morning. “This is easily the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life. I know many of you have wondered why or been frustrated that I haven’t spoken about this yet, but it was always my intention to keep my full focus on the team’s best interests, which was securing number 20. “This club has been my whole life – my whole world - for 20 years. From the academy right through until now, the support and love I have felt from everyone inside and outside of the club will stay with me forever. I will forever be in debt
Liverpool Fear Losing Ibrahima Konate In Similar Circumstances
He's been behaving like Alexander-Arnold
Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate
Before Alexander-Arnold actually revealed his intention to leave Liverpool for Real Madrid, he behaved in a certain manner and, according to Marca, Liverpool feel as though Ibrahima Konate is acting in a similar fashion. The centre-back's contract is set to expire next summer, becoming a free agent in 2026 and at the time of writing, he's rejected any approaches for a new deal. The club is convinced he's behaving similarly to Alexander-Arnold during the final year of his contract and they're now concerned that history is going to repeat itself and they're going to lose Konate to Madrid for free just a year after the right-back's exit.
The report also suggested that the club's concerns about the former RB Leipzig man moving to the Santiago Bernabeu when his contract expires have made them reluctant to allow Alexander-Arnold to join Los Blancos early and compete in the Club World Cup as a result. Having joined Liverpool in 2021, the France international has become a key figure for the Reds and was influential in the side winning their second ever Premier League title during Arne Slot's debut campaign in England.
He's played 130 games so far for the Reds and while he isn't quite as beloved or as iconic at Liverpool as Alexander-Arnold, losing him for free to the same team that the right-back went to 12 months earlier would still sting.
