Rodri has travelled with the Manchester City squad for the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace

Rodri and John Stones have travelled down to Wembley with their Manchester City teammates ahead of the FA Cup final - although it remains unlikely they will play against Crystal Palace.

After missing most of the season with an ACL injury, Rodri has recently returned to training ahead of a potential comeback at the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.

City insist they will give Rodri as much time as possible to recover, with Pep Guardiola repeatedly stressing that he will not rush the Ballon d'Or winner back and risk any future setback given the severity of his injury.

Asked specifically about Rodri's potential involvement in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace this weekend, Guardiola repeated that stance, saying: "I'm waiting on the doctors. When they tell me he's ready, he's going to start. We don't want to take a risk and make a setback."

Also travelling to Wembley is John Stones, yet to return to training after a thigh injury suffered in February. City have taken a full squad to London for the final as is tradition for the FA Cup final. Last year they took Ederson, who was injured after the Premier League win at Tottenham a week before and he wasn't involved in the defeat to Manchester United.

Kevin De Bruyne has travelled in what could be his final chance to win a trophy with City as he prepares to leave the club this summer. His involvement in the Club World Cup is yet to be decided, with his contract expiring mid-way through that tournament in the USA.

Nathan Ake is back in training after his own injury and has joined the squad travelling down. With most of the squad now fit, Guardiola has had to omit some fringe players from recent squads with Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Oscar Bobb all missing recent games. Claudio Echeverri is also among the group after training regularly since joining up with the squad in January.
