Agents of Lyon sensation Rayan Cherki have approached Manchester United about a potential summer transfer, according to CaughtOffside.
Manchester United will finish the league season with their lowest-ever points tally of the Premier League era. In spite of that, the Red Devils could still finish the campaign with a trophy, as manager Ruben Amorim has guided the club to the final of the Europa League, in which they will play Tottenham Hotspur.
Amorim’s team in Europe are a completely different side to his team in the league. As a result of their Premier League form, winning the final is crucial for Man United, as victory in the final would ensure that next season, they are playing Champions League football. While the club’s history alone is often enough to convince many to sign for them, being in the Champions League would be a major benefit.
One such player may have had his head turned by this, as agents have spoken with the Old Trafford side ahead of the transfer window.

CaughtOffside have reported that Cherki’s agents have been spoken to by Manchester United, who seem “keen to pounce for his availability.” Cherki has spent his entire senior career with Lyon to date and it can be easy to forget that he is still just 21 years old, given he has been playing for six years.

Cherki is coming to the end of his best season to date as a professional, having become a crucial part of Lyon's first-team. An exceptional playmaker with a keen eye for goal, Cherki has been described as a “superstar” because of his ability.
Lyon will be provisionally relegated to Ligue 2 if they fail to raise sufficient funds by the season’s end, which may offer the Red Devils a clearer route to signing him. Man United are also keen on Wolves star Matheus Cunha and should he and Cherki pair up as 10s in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation, it could prove transformative for the team.
