Wolves star Matheus Cunha will decide on his next club based on the wages on offer across the top Premier League sides, according to Chris Waddle.
The former Magpie told Football Insider exclusively that Eddie Howe’s side may struggle to compete with other clubs for the Brazilian forward’s signature.
Cunha is one of the Premier League’s most in-demand talents after a stellar season with the Midlands club.
With many clubs struggling for goals this season, a premium has been placed on top-tier attacking talent.
As a consequence, several of England‘s biggest clubs now find themselves in a battle for Cunha, and it could all come down to the pay packet that is offered.

Newcastle face battle to sign Matheus Cunha
Newcastle are interested in signing Cunha, but face a tall order convincing him to move to the North East.

The 25-year-old has notched 15 goals this season in the Premier League, whilst also providing seven assists.
The Brazilian’s ability to create a lot out of a little has made him a highly-prized commodity, and if Newcastle were able to pair him with Liverpool target Alexander Isak, they would have one of the Premier League’s most lethal attacking duos.
However, given the Magpies’ struggles to remain compliant with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR), they may face difficulties competing with the wages their rivals can offer.
Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider in April that Cunha was interested in a move to Liverpool, and after winning the Premier League and spending very little last summer, they are in a strong position going into the upcoming transfer window.

Matheus Cunha wants to be playing Champions League football
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, via NewBettingSites.uk, former Newcastle star Waddle explained that Champions League football was a necessity if the Magpies want to sign Cunha, and the club would have to find a way to compete with the wages offered by clubs like Man City and Liverpool, saying: “Well, I think Champions League would be a big, big say for him.
“All these players want Champions League at the end of the day.
“At the end of the day he’d look at the club, he’d look at the city, and see if they’d be top four or top five.
“He doesn’t want to be in a relegation battle. He’s gotta look and think, will Newcastle be in the top four, five clubs.
“And you got to say there’s no reason why they shouldn’t. So that’s saying a bit, could sell him on it and then at the end of the day, it’s what Newcastle pay?

“Do they pay a Liverpool wage? An Arsenal wage? A Man City wage? Cause all these clubs will be after him.
“At the end of the day, whatever people say, money talks and if somebody’s offering a lot, more money than the other club, then he’s got a fair chance of signing for the club who’s offering the most money.
“But the clubs who will be going for him are teams chasing trophies and Champions League, so whichever one he picks, he’s not going to be really making a bad decision because these clubs will be challenging in the Champions League or for a Champions League place next season.”
