**Newcastle United travel to the Big Smoke on Sunday to take on Arsenal at the Emirates, live on Sky Sports with a 4:30pm kick-off.**
If Newcastle can make it four wins in four attempts against the Gunners this season by besting them again on Sunday, the Magpies will leapfrog Arsenal in the table and will practically book their place in next season's Champions League.
With just one game remaining after that, should Newcastle beat Everton at St James' Park, they will finish the season as Premier League runners-up, stealing it from Arsenal, whose season will have been seen to have crumbled like Cheshire cheese.
As satisfying as stealing second would be, there could be a nice little sprinkling of irony, and should Alexander Isak score against Arsenal on Sunday securing a win for the Magpies then the Irony-o-meter will explode.

Do it for the lulz!
Alexander Isak could send a huge message to Arsenal on Sunday
-------------------------------------------------------------
In a recent report by [The Athletic](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6359675/2025/05/16/arsenal-transfers-gyokeres-zubimendi/), it was said that Arsenal were counting on Newcastle to miss out on Champions League football in order to launch an attack to sign star striker Alexander Isak.
Their chances of completing a deal for Isak were pretty slim, but if Newcastle nab a Champions League place, they become practically non-existent.
Which means that were Isak to score the winner on Sunday, the very player they covet so much will have made it practically impossible for Arsenal to sign him. Delicious.
Why would Alexander Isak want to go to Arsenal?
-----------------------------------------------
And again, if Newcastle beat Arsenal to second place in the Premier League, then that would just tap another nail into that transfer story's coffin - why would Isak want to go to a club who Newcastle beat four times in one season, were knocked out of the League Cup by Newcastle and finished lower than Newcastle in the Premier League.
It's genuinely crazy how this season has worked out, because when all of this Isak to Arsenal nonsense started, Arsenal looked like a way more attractive option than Newcastle, who were struggling to put any kind of winning streak together and looked destined to miss out on Europe entirely.
It just goes to show what belief and hard work will get you. Oh, and taking your bad games on the chin and moving on rather than crying about them for months on end.
