Roy Keane believes that the Manchester United squad 'don't know how to compete'. The 53-year-old slammed Ruben Amorim's side ahead of their clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Friday night, claiming they've developed 'extremely bad habits'.

United can finish no higher than 13th in the Premier League this season, which is five places worse off than their previous lowest finish in the English top-flight (8th in 2023/24). The club are also set to reduce their record for the lowest ever points tally in a Premier League campaign from 58 (in 2021/22).

Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane said: "They've lost 17 games this season, but they lost 14 last year. It's not just this season. This team just doesn't know how to compete. This is the bit I don't get.

"Turning up week in week out is the sign of greatness. And these players? Every week, they don't know how to compete. They've got into extremely bad habits."

On Amorim, Keane added: "The manager is a likeable guy, he has his critics, but his head must be spinning. I get why he thought: 'I didn't want to get into that mess' [until the summer]. He will be glad to see the back of this season.

"Some of the games, they have just written off. I've never heard so much chat from this club about next week's game. What about the game today? It will be interesting to see their mentality tonight, coming up against Chelsea."

Then, Keane ruled out any possibility of United qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next term. The Irishman said: "Man United must be embarrassed by this.

"People talk about my time in the dressing room, but I was in other dressing rooms - at Nottingham Forest and Celtic. What you want from players is go to good habits.

"What I see is the lack of fight, the lack of competing. You can forgive teams for losing, but when the manager is coming up most weeks and is scratching his head...

"Amorim's head is spinning from being Man Utd manager. Don't think for one minute that this team is going to be top four or top five. There's some quality in Bruno Fernandes..."
