Everyone associated with Newcastle United knows that St James’ Park is a special place to play football.
The atmosphere is unrivalled at times. During the opening stages of Newcastle’s win over Chelsea, the noise was deafening.
Eddie Howe’s team love playing at St James’ Park, while even opposition players relish competing at the home of the Magpies.
Bryan Mbeumo recently hailed St James’ Park, at a time when it could become his permanent home. Newcastle want to sign Mbeumo, which would allow him to play at St James’ Park every other week.
Now, Fulham defender Antonee Robinson has become the latest player to praise Newcastle United’s stadium.

Antonee Robinson delivers St James’ Park verdict
During a video for Fulham’s official TikTok account, Marco Silva’s players were asked to name their favourite stadium – other than Craven Cottage.
Former Arsenal stars Alex Iwobi and Emile Smith Rowe named the Emirates, while Antonee Robinson looked towards the North East.
“I really like St James’ Park,” Robinson said.

“Just a good, old stadium. Atmosphere is sick.
“But Emirates as well. Probably my favourite. Grew up an Arsenal fan.”
Newcastle United tried to sign Antonee Robinson
Interestingly, Robinson missed out on the chance to move to Newcastle United and play regularly at St James’ Park.
That is according to the man himself, with the USA international admitting that he held talks with Steve Bruce over a move to Tyneside in 2020.
“So yeah, I think at the time I was leaving Wigan, everyone knew I was leaving for cheap because of the clause (£2million) and whatever,” he told the Ben Foster Podcast in February 2025.
“So Everton were trying to like buy me back to then sell me straight away basically, which I just weren’t having that, I felt a bit wrong.
“Newcastle, Steve Bruce rang me and was like, look, we’d like to do it. And obviously that’s a massive club. I was like, I’m interested, but I didn’t really feel quite right.
“Sheff United, I went and met Chris Wilder. That seemed like a good fit. It seemed like that was where I was going to be going.
“And then got a phone call off Scotty Parker, who was Fulham gaffer at the time.”
That says a lot about where Newcastle United were and how far they have come.
In the summer of 2020, St James’ Park was not a desirable place to play your football.
Fast forward to 2025 and things are very different. Newcastle are a club with ambition, and a trophy. They could even be back in the Champions League very soon.
As for Robinson, he has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best left-backs. He has been outstanding for Fulham this season, providing 10 assists. Only Mohamed Salah and Newcastle superstar Jacob Murphy have got more.
