Golden State Warriors Have Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Verdict

Unfortunately for the Golden State Warriors, their season and pursuit of another trip to the NBA Finals ended on Wednesday when they fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves, 121-110.

It was admittedly an uphill climb without their superstar guard Stephen Curry, who had injured his hamstring in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals.

Still, Warriors fans were optimistic. They had won the first game despite Curry's exit and had to keep the series alive to at least Game 6, when it was possible he could've come back.

Golden State Warriors make Giannis Antetokounmpo decision

Heading into the offseason, the Warriors will need to improve their roster in certain areas. Whether that's a more traditional center or a third scorer/shooter to put next to Curry and Jimmy Butler remains to be seen.

The big name ahead of the offseason is Giannis Antetokounmpo, who admitted he's "open-minded" about the possibility of a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks this summer.

However, according to NBA insider Brett Siegel's report, the Warriors will likely not participate in the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes.

"The Warriors are committed to their core of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green," wrote Siegel. "No major superstar trade appears to be in the cards for Golden State entering the offseason, as the idea is to fill the gaps around these three stars."

Anytime a generational player like Antetokounmpo even utters the word "trade," it sends the entire NBA into a frenzy, with each team putting together hypothetical packages in hopes of landing the superstar.

It will be interesting to see how the Warriors attack the offseason market. They don't have a first-round pick in this upcoming NBA Draft.

That's where Jonathan Kuminga could prove to be vital to their offseason plans. After Curry went down with the hamstring injury, Kuminga re-emerged and at least likely boosted his value before becoming a restricted free agent this summer.

With that in mind, the Warriors could explore a sign-and-trade involving Kuminga when the time comes.
