Sam Amick on Giannis’ future, shocking NBA Draft Lottery results

The Athletic‘s Sam Amick joined The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross on Thursday to discuss the future of Giannis Antetokounmpo, the impact of the Dallas Mavericks winning the 2025 NBA Draft lottery, and more.

The guys began their conversation by breaking down the leaguewide impact of Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum’s Achilles injury. Will the defending champions have to clear out some of their roster this offseason by moving players like Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday, or Derrick White?

But, the Giannis sweepstakes are expected to be the highlights of the offseason. Amick points out that it still would require the former MVP to ask out of Milwaukee, something that has not occurred yet.

If he did, though, what teams could make competitive offers?

With Scott Perry replacing Monte McNair as general manager of the Sacramento Kings this offseason, don’t be surprised to see a busy offseason.

And those rumors are already starting to flow out from the NBA Draft Lottery, an event where plenty of leaguewide executives find themselves in the same city. According to Jake Fischer, “there (has) been no shortage of rumbles, since the hiring of Scott Perry as general manager, that Sacramento is expected to gauge the trade market for veteran swingman DeMar DeRozan.”

Fischer reported this on his Substack.
